August 17, 2010

How would you determine bed bug symptoms?  Have you ever heard someone wishing you a goodnight sleep and along with a phrase like “Sleep tight, don’t let the bed bugs bite!” You might have heard and dismissed it several times because you don’t seem to be bothered by the existence of bed bugs anyway.

Well it could be that you don’t feel their presence now but do you know that about 75% of households have bed bugs on their beds? It’s likely that your house may have some too!

Though it may be hard to see them, you will recognize one when you see one. Bed bugs are wingless bugs that have six legs. Those legs are what enable them to reproduce so fast and infest not just your bed but also you carpets, blankets and curtains! Aside from the fact that they feed on human blood, their appearance of having a squat head makes them more undesirable. Unlike other creatures or insects, they have the ability to survive without feeding for several months!

However, if you don’t seem to know how to identify bed bug symptoms, they will be able to survive or even enjoy a happy life style with just feeding on your blood alone! Then imagine the blood they could eventually suck from the rest of the members of your family if you don’t prevent them from reproducing. You are right when you think that they are worse than vampires are!

So, now once and for all you’d like to stop these creatures from bugging you and eventually your entire family’s life. How would you determine bed bug symptoms then? Regularly check your body for any bites that you might have received over night.

Symptoms may include but are not limited to itchiness, reddening of the skin, localized swelling, large welts which reduce to red marks and may gradually face over a few days, blisters around the bites and in some cases, small loss of skin tissue.

Other bed bug symptoms include small bloodstains from any crushed bugs in your bedding, offensive or in some cases, sweet odor that comes from the scent glands of the bugs. You will also be able to see rusty or dark spots of bug excrement on mattresses, walls and bedding. Once you have checked on these symptoms and it came out positive, don’t panic. There are several ways on how to prevent and stop these bed bugs from bugging you and your family such as spraying an insecticide or if you want to make sure they won’t survive, call an expert to deal with these blood-sucking pests.
